Up All Night
It’s ten till six. I’ve been up most of the night.? Don’t know if I’m anxious about the baby coming or just over-caffeinated.? Maybe that cold medicine is just messing with my head.I tossed and turned in bed for a while probably driving Terry nuts.? Then I got up and just looked out the window for a long time.? And here I am back on the computer.? My old friend who’s always there waiting for me.?? Well, I’m here.? Might as well tell a story.
We stopped by the Price Cutter store Sunday to pick up a couple things.? I gathered my two items and headed for the checkout.
There had to be about 9 million people in the 3 open lanes!? Terry’s waiting in the car and we’re late for our destination, so I pick one and get in line.
Why is it that the guy in a tee shirt with the sleeves ripped off buying cigarettes always has some problem requiring the manager?? Are these people incapable of navigating a checkout line without additional assistance?? The light starts blinking and I head for another line.
I get behind this lady and her two hyperactive children.? She looks about 35, decently dressed and probably mid to upper class.? As the aforementioned children circle the cart bellowing an ancient tribal chant, their mother picks up a Woman’s Day magazine and thumbs through it for coupons.? I’m thinking, “That’s not a bad idea.? Buy a magazine and use the coupons in it for the rest of your groceries.”? She then proceeds to rip out the coupons that apply to her bounty and puts the magazine back on the rack!? I kid you not.? She put the thing back.
Line number three.? You don’t think I could stay there after that.? Just my luck they’d get all the way to the front and management would call her on it.? This is the supermarket.? I’m not interested in justice, just speed.
As Cigarette Man pled his case and Coupon Clipper searched for more money saving ideas, I swiped my debit card and headed out the store.
